The Legacy

Founded by Greg Shaffer.

After 45 years of piano tuning, repair, and service, Greg passed his knowledge on to the next generation. He envisioned and created “The Colorado Institute of Piano Technology,” where he spent ten months with Luke and Sean — teaching piano history, repairs, rebuilding, and the art of aural tuning.

Now that the business has transitioned, Greg and his clients can be assured of the same friendly, professional service they've come to expect over the past five decades.

The hands on your piano.

Sean Weinert

Sean Weinert

Owner, Piano Technician

Raised in a musical family, Sean began piano at age 5 and found his love of live performance playing guitar — a 20-year member of the Denver music community in performance, audio engineering, and production. He completed an apprenticeship under Greg Shaffer in aural tuning, repair, and restoration, where piano technology became the intersection of his two passions: working with his hands and a life in music. When he's not servicing pianos in the field, he's covered in sawdust and glue in the restoration shop.

Luke Mizuki

Luke Mizuki

He holds a B.A. in Music and an M.A. in Teaching, has performed and recorded across bands, orchestras, and choirs since childhood, and directs choirs at Grandview High School and with Young Voices of Colorado.
